Backyard Shed, Patio, and Pergola for Outdoor Living Spaces

I plan to add a pergola to the front of the shed for an outdoor sitting and cooking area. It will look very similar to the photo above, but posts are cheaper than the columns shown. $1,495 with 6"x6" posts or $1,995 with 6"-8" columns

I was planning on siding the shed with cedar shake shingles like the picture above and put the shutters on as you mentioned. I thought covering the cedar with a clear coat to retain natural look would be best. $299.

Or we could use siding like this picture to the left.

Fire Pit and Patio

The fire pit above is the style I plan to install. I will put the metal pan inside as a base to burn in and enable proper air flow. $249.

I can install the patio as shown (but with better looking old style pavers) under the pergola and around firepit for $2,195. Or a cheaper option is to create pea gravel pad and walk area for about $395. Add $395 for walkway to deck.

Front of House Facelifts

A simple, but appealing facelift to the front left corner of the house would be to add a pergola type awning. This would extend out from recessed corner of side entry door and extend out over end of the parking pad.

This would create an effective upgrade in curb appeal and ad photos. This could be done for around $1,695 +/-.

Front Bump Out Facelifts for Cape Cod

As you can see from these two concepts, by adding a roof gable dormer and bump-out window you can dramatically improve your front streetscape.

You could add a gable dormer over your front window and either a bump out as below or just the window bump out as above.

Other options include actual window dormers installed in each of upstairs front bedrooms. A window dormer is shown in top picture to the right side of roof. These can be 4' or 5' wide. These improvements would range from $4,995 to $9,995.
